meet the underwater or airborne residents, from white tailed sea eagle, seals, porpoises to dolphins

Glengarriff Pier, Glengarriff Rd, Bantry, Co. Cork, PFX4+WQ

Service Description

onboard our 3 hour Marine Wildlife Tour you might meet any of Bantry Bay’s underwater or airborne residents, from Glengarriff’s iconic white tailed sea eagle, seals, porpoises to common dolphins or – if you’re lucky – minke whales. Dolphins are a regular sighting for us on the Marine Wildlife Tour, and their playful nature sometimes brings them right up to ride in the wake of the boat. Meanwhile, you’ll also be able to check out a charismatic bob of Atlantic Grey and common seals panned out on prominent rock formations along the coastline. We’ll cruise around to a spot where you can help us haul up a lobster pot and take a look at the different kinds of crustaceans inside (you can touch them too if you like!). Sustainability is a massively important consideration to us, and during the Marine Wildlife boat tour, we’ll be taking care to tread lightly on the ecosystems we visit. When we pull up the pot, we always ensure to release baby lobsters and females with eggs back into the water. You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at mackerel fishing. Bay fishing is a great way to spend the day with family or friends. Experience the thrill of catching your first ever fish or compete to catch the biggest one – you can even take home your supper! Birdwatchers, rejoice! During this boat tour, you’re also likely to see oystercatchers, grey heron, guillemot, razorbill, little egret, gannet, great northern diver, fulmar, swan, cormorant, shag, manx shearwater and all the gulls.
