Service Description

Carved from the rock. Steeped in history. Teeming with wildlife. The Gobbins Cliff Path in a unique and dreamlike experience, its primal beauty tamed by Edwardian engineering. Step through a portal in the rock and onto a pathway over the sea. Peer into the ever-changing waters of the North Passage from the railings of a tubular bridge. Venture between outcrops and across the mouths of yawning caves. The Gobbins was conceived by a 19th century engineering genius. Berkeley Deane Wise saw how Antrim's dramatic coastline, the new tourism industry and the growing railway system could combine to create a unique attraction. The Gobbins clifftop view lets you see far out into the North Channel. You might see the coast of Scotland on a clear day. On the path, keep an eye out for the seals, dolphins and porpoise that hunt in these waters. Boot Hire Appropriate footwear must be worn on the path. Trainers/runners are not permitted on the walk. Sturdy walking boots (i.e. thick tread with ankle support) are best, but we will accept hiking shoes until further notice. If you need to rent walking boots you can do so online or by arriving 15 minutes early for your allocated tour time and paying at reception. If you rent them online, please leave a note with the sizes required and your guide will organise them for your arrival, we have a range of sizes from children’s size 12 to adult size 13.
